We are using http://getglimpse.com along with the ado extension http://nuget.org/packages/Glimpse.Ado.

But if have Glimpse.Ado enabled Obtaining Query Result sets and Execution Plans doesn't work as the DbProviderFactory combo is empty.

Any chance of making this work?

This is kind of a follow on from http://www.llblgen.com/TinyForum/Messages.aspx?ThreadID=22003

The factory wrapped by our factory is a factory which is wrapped by glimpse's factory. It tries to determine the original factory by creating an instance of the wrapped factory (as it works with types) and from there it tries to unwrap till unwrapping doesn't reveal a new factory anymore (the same trick is used in the runtime to access oracle properties for example). It then tries to determine the db type from the unwrapped factory type. If that fails, it gives up (as it can't determine the db type) and thus query result and execution plans won't work as it can't determine the factory.

I don't know why it doesn't work for you, it might be glimpse did change their wrapper factory in such a way that it doesn't return the original factory anymore if the wrapped factory is accessed through its IServiceProvider interface. But there's little else we can do.
